Progress in Legal Methodology – A Methodological Assessment of Six PhD Theses

In this article, the question is raised to what extent methodology debate in legal scholarship has improved practice by PhD researchers of justifying their methodology. Over past twenty years, there been much more consideration and discussion methods, especially Dutch academia. Taking as a starting point, Taekema Van Klink argue that it led normative framework with which research can be assessed. Formulating set topics questions form core framework, they apply six fairly recent dissertations. Building on these cases, observe some progress made from methodological point view, compared situation described Tijssen his thesis 2006. conclude, however, appears not have significantly better justification, at least yet all assessment criteria. The dissertation, for instance, still deserves attention.
